How Much Is A Dub Of Weed?

A dub simply refers to $20 worth of weed. The term was coined in reference to the typical 1 gram “dime bag” sold for $10 by unlicensed vendors. A “dub” simply means double your standard gram of cannabis flower. Before local and federal governments even talked about legalization, the dub was the nickname for the $20 you’d spend on 2 grams of flower. Since many people carry $20 bills on them when paying with cash, the dub naturally became popular slang for that bill you’d hand over for a handful of weed.

What Does a Dub of Weed Weigh?

Nowadays, the amount you’ll get for a dub’s worth of weed varies so much. If you’re buying on the low, or in places where cannabis is still criminalized, a “dub’s worth” can equal anywhere from 2-3 grams of flower. The quality here will vary from purchase to purchase. Every sale depends on where the product is grown and the price set by the seller.  

Cannabis dispensaries everywhere use the word “dub” to refer to the sales of $20 worth of flower. Here, the weight of a dub, or 20 bucks worth of weed, can vary according to the quality of the flower. For example, you can typically get around 1-2 grams of indoor grown and premium cannabis for around $20. This isn’t always the case, though.  Sometimes, buying a dub’s worth can be a great way to get more bang for your buck. You can often find deals where you can get  get an eighth to 5 grams of flower for $20. This type of deal would probably consist of shake or outdoor flower, aka reggie weed

  • Dime bag: as mentioned before, a dime bag is $10 worth of weed. This term has been around in the weed world for a long time. It’s typically around a gram’s worth of weed and can yield about 1 large joint or two bowls. 
  • Eighth: An eighth of an ounce is the most common weight of weed sold today. An eighth weighs 3.5 grams and can cost anywhere from $15-$50.
  • Quarter: Since an eighth is 3.5 grams, a quarter is simply twice that mount, or 7 grams worth. They can cost anywhere from $30-$80 on average.
  • Zip: A zip is a nickname for an ounce of weed, or 28 grams. When speaking about an “eighth” of flower, the eighth is a fraction of a zip or ounce. 

What Does A Dub of Weed Look Like? 

A dub can get you a lot of different amounts of flower. Therefore, every dub you buy can look different as well. Typically, $20 worth of flower will look like a small handful of weed. With ground-up weed, such as shake or outdoor grown weed, you can get a small jar or bag’s worth for $20.

On the other hand, when buying premium or indoor grown flower, a dub may just be a few nugs. Nevertheless, that standard 2-3 grams you get out of your typical dub will yield about 2-3 joints of indoor flower, 4 bowls, or about 1-2 blunts.

The weight of each “dub” depends on several factors, such as the quality or strain of the weed and where you are getting your bud from.
