How to Make Weed Gummy Bears

Making these chewy weed gummies might seem daunting and time-consuming, but they’re actually quite easy to make. Especially if you already have cannabis oil or butter on hand, the process can take less than an hour! Either way, you’re going to need a gummy mold to fill your cannabis mixture with. The most popular kind of candy shape is a bear or a worm. Websites and cooking stores also sell molds of other quirky shapes, such as this weed-leaf-shaped gummy tray that stoners swear by.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup cannabis-infused coconut oil (preferred) or cannabutter
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 2 tablespoons soy or sunflower lecithin
  • 3 ounces of flavored Jell-O gelatin powder (equal to one packet from a small-sized box)
  • 1/2 teaspoon unflavored gelatin
  • Medium pot
  • Whisk
  • Cooking dropper or funnel
  • Gummy mold

Weed Gummy Bears Recipe Steps

  1. Get cannabis-infused oil or butter
If you have some cannabis oil or butter in the vicinity, you are a pro and ready to go! However, if you have no cannabis oil or butter on hand, click here for a recipe that provides step-by-step directions to get you started! When following this recipe prior to gummy-making, consider using coconut oil instead of butter. Coconut oil cooks easily and produces a more solid texture without the strong weed taste.
  2. Place pot over a low flame
As the pot begins to heat up, use a whisk to mix together the cold water, cannabis oil or butter, and soy/sunflower lecithin. Keep mixing the ingredients for several minutes until the liquid is melted and its texture is smooth all the way through.
  3. Add flavored and unflavored gelatin
Once smooth, add both gelatins to the heating mixture. When choosing your flavor of gelatin, perhaps try some lime Jell-O! This flavor is many stoners’ favorite choice as the citrus efficiently masks the weed taste and adds an enjoyable hint of coconut and lime to each gummy.
  4. Keep stirring
With the heat of the stove still on low, use the whisk to stir the liquid for about 15 minutes or until the gelatin mixture dissolves. Make sure you do not let the mixture come to a boil, or you’ve overcooked it!
  5. Fill gummy molds
Quickly fill your dropper or funnel with the gelatinous liquid so that it doesn’t harden over time! Squeeze a little bit of liquid into each mold so that the tray doesn’t overflow. As you finish each dropper of weed Jell-O, remember to give a thorough stir to the mixture so that the batch doesn’t harden in the meantime.
  6. Put trays in the freezer
Once the molds are filled, place the weed gummies in the freezer for 20 to 30 minutes. Now, your gummies should be solid and ready to eat! Now you know how to make edible weed gummy bears!

How Long Do Weed Gummies Last?

These treats take about an hour to two hours to kick in, and the psychological effects last anywhere from 3 to 6 hours. Depending on the cannabis strain used, your edibles may be stronger or less potent than expected. Looking for the same end result as this recipe? Half of a cup of cannabis oil (made with an 18-20% THC strain) produces about 300 mg THC. Divide the total mg of THC by the number of gummies to figure out the milligrams of THC per gummy. After dividing the batch into 30 gummies, each piece will have about 10mg. Make sure to mix your ingredients thoroughly so that the cannabis is distributed evenly throughout each gummy. This still doesn’t determine an exact THC dosage when making homemade edibles, so start cautiously with one gummy and wait an hour until eating more.

Weed Gummy Bears Side Effects

While it may be tempting to eat handfuls of these treats, they are infused with lots of THC! At the right dose, the effects of edibles include euphoria and extreme relaxation, so get ready to be glued to the couch! Some users report paranoia after eating too many gummy edibles, so start in moderation and thank yourself later. For more seasoned edible eaters, weed gummies create a very relaxing and cerebral effect with less of a psychedelic edge.

Enjoy Your Gummy Creation!
