Can Stoners Be Successful?

We all know the stereotype that hangs over anyone who smokes pot daily. Lazy, unmotivated, forgetful…maybe that’s the case when we’ve just taken a massive hit from a 35 inch bong. Generally though, high-functioning stoners frequently argue that weed helps them perform better. Weed has been proven to help with stress, anxiety and focus. It may even help stoners be more creative, including the likes of William Shakespeare who is said to have smoked pot occasionally. In any case, the next time someone infers that stoners never amount to much, whip out this successful stoners list.

What Does the Term “Successful” Mean Here?

Success is an ambiguous word these days. Although it should have never been defined by any single metric, we can’t deny the facts. A good majority correlate success with money, physical achievements and fame. It may not be ideal, but that’s the “standard”.

By whatever standard you choose to measure success, a stoner can top it. A cannabis user can graduate top of their class, own a house, run a country and have a great family. Most of all, a cannabis user can be happy. Just as you can achieve your dreams if you don’t abuse food, it’s the same thing with marijuana. It is worthy to note that many influential people who use marijuana aren’t too vocal about it. It maybe as a result of the controversial nature of the topic.

Honorable Stoner Mentions

The Unfair Indictment of Marijuana

When the real killers are allowed to roam free, it says a lot about the world we live in. Sugar ladened poisons are almost available for free at stores. Alcohol, cigarette and tobacco have always been accorded more privilege from the onset. Only recently did cannabis finally start getting the recognition it long deserved.

What did cannabis ever do to anyone to attract such scrutiny? A scientific study exonerated marijuana from false accusations in 2015. It turns out every other drug tested was classified as posing a risk (including alcohol) except cannabis. Have you ever heard of someone that overdosed on marijuana? My point exactly.

A Short Lecture

Just like most natural and man-made substances, cannabis affects everyone differently. The key lies in the balance – as in most cases in life. Some people go dieting, eating specific kinds of food, at specific times, in specific quantities. Others fast intermittently. Vegans stick to plants and so on. All these principles can be applied to the use of marijuana. There are numerous strains to choose from, each packing unique effects. There are several different ways to consume cannabis. The dose and the timing, it all matters. Once you strike a balance with the desired effects you’ll be a fully productive and more importantly, happily high human. Eureka!

Is there any good reason for anyone to use marijuana? There are dozens of reasons, our cannabis science section breaks it down for you better than Bill Nye! Perhaps you’ve tried marijuana and are convinced it isn’t for you. However, don’t deny others the chance to have their turn. Marijuana education should be encouraged like sex education. They’re both great stuff but bad decisions can be made. Would you rather pretend it’s not happening?

Marijuana and Success

Marijuana won’t give you talent or drive if it isn’t there in the first place. To be successful, you’ve got to put the work in, first and foremost. Many people have talent but hard work and genuine drive will set you apart. How many hours did LeBron play before he got four rings? What if David Letterman let early failures as a weatherman hold him back from debuting the Late Night Show? What if we never had the pleasure to watch Oliver Stone’s script come to life in Scarface?

Maybe you are a high-functioning stoner who performs better high. Maybe you’re not. Perhaps smoking helps you to relax after hours and be more successful when on the clock. Everyone is different. Smoking marijuana won’t make you more successful by definition. Celebrity stoner or not, every stoner has a duty to appropriately represent Mary Jane. Find out what works best for you and let’s break down the stereotype, one successful stoner at a time.
