Does Weed Help You Last Longer in Bed?

Stoners have been saying there is a link between marijuana and sex for a really long time. As a matter of fact, people rave about ‘high sex’. Of course, not everybody will have the same sexual experience with weed but that’s expected. If you’re looking to spice up your sex life by maybe doing it for longer periods of time, you may be looking at weed. Does weed help you last longer in bed? Here’s what we know about weed and sex.

Does Smoking Weed Make You Last Longer in Bed?

According to Good Rx, “It’s unlikely that smoking weed will make you last longer in bed or prolong orgasm”. However, stoners report a different story.

Playboy cited a survey that found that 73% of the participants experience longer partner sessions. The company that conducted the study, Eaze, had a chat with Playboy about the results and they say they’re not surprised. Eaze’s Head of Policy Research Peter Gigante told Playboy that their customers report using weed due to their anxiety. Therefore, if weed helps them to ease their anxiety, it’s no wonder that they’ll last longer in bed.

Jordan Tishler, MD a professor at Harvard and president of the Association of Cannabis Specialists says that weed can help you last longer in bed. Tishler told Playboy, “The people who are having trouble because they orgasm too soon tend to last longer. And the guys who are having trouble achieving orgasm seem to do better at achieving it sooner. Everybody ends up happier.”

Cosmopolitan echoes a similar sentiment to Tishler. The magazine article said, “guys generally say smoking marijuana before boning increases their sexual stamina and helps them last longer.”

However, being high messes with our perception of time and so there is a chance that weed does not help you last longer in bed. In another article, Playboy says, “sex might seem to last longer when you’re high, but the actual amount of time you spend having sex might not really be any different from when you’re sober.”

Does Smoking Weed Affect Orgasms?

Besides making men last longer in bed, weed can affect orgasms in other ways.

Some people, won’t be able to get erect in the first place or keep their erection. One study shows that cannabis users experience erectile dysfunction at a higher rate than non-users. The study says, “the overall prevalence of ED in cannabis users was 69.1% (95% CI: 38.0-89.1), whilst the corresponding figure in controls was 34.7% (95% CI: 20.3-52.7).” On the other hand, another study says that’s not the case.

As Good Rx puts it, people who suffer from erectile dysfunction due to cannabis may be using “too much”. In other words, a higher dose of cannabis may lead to erectile dysfunction. Playboy agrees with that sentiment and says, “when drugs like marijuana and alcohol are consumed in larger quantities, erectile and other sexual problems (e.g., difficulty reaching orgasm) become[s] much more likely.”

On the other hand, according to a 2019 study, 65.7% or 132 participants claim that they experienced an increased intensity of orgasms after using weed.

In addition to that, another study says that a majority of the women who use cannabis before sex report positive sexual effects such as orgasms. The study says “Women who used marijuana before sex and those who used more frequently were more than twice as likely to report satisfactory orgasms”. This is in comparison to women who don’t use weed before sex and those who use weed infrequently.

How to Last Longer in Bed

Weed doesn’t make sex amazing for everyone. Weed does not help everyone last longer in bed. As a matter of fact, 4.7% of the participants in the 2019 study say weed makes sex worse for them. If you fall into the group of people who don’t necessarily benefit from weed before sex or are looking for other ways to last longer, continue reading!

Here are three ways you can last longer in bed:

1. Wrap It Up

According to Men’s Health, condoms can help to curb premature ejaculation. These condoms fall into three categories:

  • Extended pleasure condoms
  • Delay condoms
  • Mutual pleasure condoms

Let’s talk about what all of this means. Extended pleasure condoms work by reducing stimulation. Men’s health specialist Dr. Jeff Foster told Men’s Health, “By placing a barrier in the way such as an extended pleasure condom, it reduces this stimulation and allows for a longer time until reaching orgasm.”

Delay condoms, according to Men’s Health, are lined with lubricant. The active ingredients in these lubricants are usually benzocaine or lidocaine. These ingredients work as an anesthetic and therefore reduce overstimulation.

Finally, there are mutual pleasure condoms. These combine a desensitizing lubricant like the delay condoms and are ribbed for the other person’s pleasure.

The great news is that there is a wide array of all these different types of condoms available. It’s up to you to find one that works for you. Foster told Men’s Health, ‘Aim for condoms with a thicker barrier, decreased sensation, decreased friction and less overall stimulation.’

2. Do Pelvic Exercises

Pelvic exercises can be beneficial for anyone with a pelvis.

According to Web MD, “Strengthening the muscles that surround and support the genital area can assist the penis in obtaining and maintaining an erection and address issues that cause premature ejaculation.”

They give fairly quick results. Web MD says that with daily exercises, men can start seeing improvement in about a month.

One pelvic exercise, according to Web MD is called ‘Sitting in a Chair Squeezes”. All you have to do is, sit on a comfortable chair and squeeze your penis for five seconds then stop. Just to be clear, squeezing the penis means pretending to hold urine. Do this exercise 8-10 times and then 3-5 sets of that.

3. See a Doctor

Sometimes premature ejaculation is a sign of something more serious. Danielle Brightman, clinical lead at the digital health clinic for men, Numan, told Men’s Health that you should see a doctor if you’re not sure of the root cause of your premature ejaculation.

Web MD, says, “Doctors are more and more convinced that sexual health is directly correlated to overall health”. While they admit that premature ejaculation is not a medical condition it can affect a man’s sexual relationships and confidence.

In addition to that, according to the Cleveland Clinic, premature ejaculation can be caused by thyroid disease, chronic pelvic pain syndrome, stress, depression, and other issues.

Conclusion

Does weed help you last longer in bed? It might! It really depends on the person. Weed can make sex better for you or cause dysfunction. Not only does it depend on the person, but it also seems to be dose-dependent too. In addition to that, if you’re unable to last long in bed, that’s a conversation you can have with your doctor. You can also employ other methods at home.
