Using Tissue Paper to Roll a Joint

Most commercial rolling papers are made from thin plant fibers such as flax, hemp, or rice. Therefore, they burn naturally and slowly. On the other hand, tissue paper is made from a very thin wood pulp and burns much faster than regular rolling papers. Therefore, you’ll want to make sure you roll an even joint, following the steps below. However, don’t expect magic because the tissue paper will still burn much faster than regular rolling papers, no matter how perfectly your joint is rolled.

How to Make a Tissue Paper Joint

While a piece of tissue paper can be used like a rolling paper, added dyes can be harmful to your body and should not be used for smoking. Keep this in mind and follow the steps below.

  1. Get a sheet of uncolored tissue paper.
  2. Cut out a piece of the tissue paper into the size of a rolling paper, typically around 68mm in length and 34mm in width.
  3. Grind your weed with a grinder or your hands.
  4. Next, fold the paper in half horizontally to create a crease. This is optional, but allows you to place and roll the weed more easily into the tissue.
  5. Pack and roll your joint carefully, using a crutch or filter if you like. Homemade filters can be made from any small piece of cardboard or card stock. If you don’t already know how to roll a joint, you can learn how to with these easy steps here! That way, you’ll always end up with a well made joint.
  6. Pack the end of the joint very tightly. This is essential because of the thinness of the paper. If your joint is very loose, it will burn almost instantly.

Can You Roll Weed In Toilet Paper?

While tissue paper is very similar to toilet paper in texture, you should not use toilet paper to create a makeshift joint. The paper is very fluffy and thick, which will make your joint fall apart and burn horribly. However, many toilet paper rolls are packaged in tissue paper, so you can alternatively use a piece of that if you have an unwrapped toilet paper roll nearby.

Alternatives to Rolling Papers

Now you know the ins and outs of the question, “Can you roll a joint with tissue paper?” But what if there’s no tissue paper nearby? Fear not, because there’s plenty of other household paper items you can use for an impromptu smoking session.

Thin Paper Pages Versus Tissue Paper

If you really get desperate and don’t have tissue paper, you can also use other thin paper materials such as a newspaper, a gum wrapper, a dictionary page, or a Bible page. Simply tear out a page and cut out a piece the size of a regular rolling paper. This is about 68mm in length and 34 mm in width, as mentioned previously. Now, all you need to do is get rolling. Be ready to make some people uncomfortable if you’re using a torn Bible page. You’ll quite literally have your friends and cannabis buddies saying “holy smokes!”

You can also mimic the effects of a bong, pipe, or other accessories with household items as well. Check out how to smoke weed without a pipe or papers and you may even find yourself getting high using a bucket, an apple, or even hot knives! Finally, you’re on your way to rolling a joint out of whatever smokable paper you’d like.
